Hi! I’m Alison Smith, born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and a true Huskers Fan! Six years ago I made my way to the great state of Texas and haven’t left since. I earned my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and my Masters in Exercise Science from Texas State University. I’m currently working as the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness at the University of Texas – San Antonio, Campus Recreation. I have the privilege of teaching and training students how to be the best group exercise and personal trainer they can be!

My hope for this blog is to provide you, the reader, with a some what entertaining and informative reading experience about the fearless adventures of my life and teach you a thing or two while I’m at it. I’m open to feedback  and suggestions to help make me a better person and blogger!

      I Love Tabatas.Tabata is a form of interval training to where you do an exercise (or a combo of 2) at 100% effect for 20 seconds, rest 10 secs and repeat 7 more times for a total of 4 minutes. Tabatas were originally designed to be your total workout, that’s how hard you should be working. Of course you need a proper and good warm-up and a good cool-down/stretch but the tabata itself should kick your butt. Now a days, main stream fitness has taken this 4 minute workout and tried to do it multiple times in a row (30 or 60 minute classes). At this point it becomes a tabata-type training because although you may be working 100% effort every time, your 100% effort is only like 70-80% of normal… make sense? Like i said before, if you’re body can handle more than that 4 minutes, you didn’t work hard enough. Wanna do a tabata or tabata-type workout when you come visit?
